January Blahs

I've been a horrible poster -- January is my least favorite month. I just want to curl up in a blanket and drink hot cocoa. And, if someone would invent a heated bubble I could use to get from my apartment to my car to work, that would be pretty cool too.

My new way of life is going well so far. I've been sticking with my three-days-a-week exercise program. I've actually reached the point where my workouts are making me feel more energized and excited. I even look forward to them!

I've lost 1.2 pounds so far. That's not all that exciting -- I'm still working on the food thing. But, I'm getting better at it every day. I could occasionally make better choices. For instance, it probably wasn't good for me to have a saketini, sake, calamari, a creamy dynamite roll and tempura-fried cheesecake at Kogen's last Saturday. (But it sure was tasty!)

Yay! Elizabeth Edwards!

I read that she has legally separated from John Edwards. Good for her! Just looking at him makes me sick. I can't believe he turned out to be such a delusional liar. I fell for his act hook, line, and sinker. All along he was denying the parentage of that poor little girl -- even making his aide claim HE was the father. Disgusting. All he ever had to do was tell the truth.

Yay! Barack!

My boy was on TV last night and I thought his State of the Union speech knocked it out of the park. I loved his feistiness and loved the way he took Congress to task. He's absolutely right - I'm sick of all the fighting. Barack is the only politician out there who's using inclusive language and talking about genuinely wanting to help people. The other folks are so divisive - I'm talking about Democrats too but the Republicans are ESPECIALLY babyish. They don't even try.

I loved that at first the Republicans weren't applauding anything -- even when Barack promoted Republican-friendly policies. They came around to the end - maybe they realized they were being asses.

Favorite line:
Just saying no to everything may be good short-term politics, but it's not leadership. We were sent here to serve our citizens, not our ambitions. So let's show the American people that we can do it together.
Of course, my State of the Union high was brought to a screeching halt when Chris Matthews said he forgot Obama was black during the speech. What an idiot! You forgot he was black? What does that even mean? Simon and I were so disgusted we turned off the TV.

Ugh -- now I heard that Sarah Palin said last night's speech was "a lot of lecturing, not a lot of leading." WTF does she know about leading. The woman is HATEFUL and absolutely disgusts me. Every day, I wake up and thank God that she is not our Vice President. This is one of my favorite posts about Sarah Palin -- I think there's something to it!
