While I was waiting for our session to begin, I spied a small chubby elementary school aged boy standing on the scale. (Although I guess he could have been junior high or even high school. I'm so bad with ages nowadays!)
He looked at the weight on the scale and got a completely dejected look on his face. He threw his hands down in frustration and stepped off the scale. I completely knew how he felt.
He disappeared for a few minutes then came back and repeated the scale performance again.
It wasn't until I was exercising that I realized what the boy was doing. He was working out on the elliptical machine for a few minutes, then weighing himself to see if he had lost any weight.
I wanted to give him a big hug and say "Honey, it doesn't work that fast!" (Wouldn't it be nice if it did?) Sadly, he can work out all he wants, but if he eats crap at home, he's going to stay chubby.
