Yikes - I Quit My Job!

Apparently, I like to do all my new things at once:
  • new home
  • wedding
  • new job!
2010 is turning out to be monumental. Luckily, it's impossible for me to have a baby this year!

I quit my job on Friday. It was very scary. I felt like I was going to throw up and was shaking before I resigned. Of course, I cried. I ALWAYS cry when I quit jobs, because I'm completely lame. My boss must have thought I was a completely idiot.

Luckily, it all went well. My last day is July 2.

My new job is at a different bank. I actually worked there many years before, but it's a completely different job with completely different people. I'll be doing media relations and internal communications. I'm very excited AND nervous! I've been doing my current job for 5 years and feel like my brain has atrophied.

Time to Move On

I knew it was time to look elsewhere. I'm getting married and will eventually be starting a family. I don't want to be on pager one or two nights a week or traveling for weeks at a time. Plus, I just want to do something different.

I was planning to wait until after the wedding, but this job randomly fell in my lap (like all my jobs - some people find stray cats, I find stray jobs.) It looked interesting so I started interviewing with them in April. I did eight interviews and was finally offered the job two weeks ago. Even though I accepted the job, I had to wait for the background check to finish before it was official.

I Have a What?

A few days ago, I got a call from the HR people. They found a misdemeanor on my background check. I was completely freaked out -- I'm like a girl scout. In fact, I'm not really sure what a misdemeanor is. I've always thought it involved court or jail.

Seven years ago, I was cited for a minor fender bender. My ticket was for improper yield at an intersection and I paid a fine. End of story. Apparently, that was a misdemeanor that should have been disclosed on my job application.

I didn't leave it off intentionally. I just completely forgot that it happened until she called. And, I wouldn't have realized it was a misdemeanor even if I had remembered it. Luckily, it wasn't a huge deal.

I'm very nervous and that I'm successful in my new job. I feel like my brain is out of practice so I hope it trains up quickly!
