I Think The World is Coming to an End

Our lovely president is at it again, urging folks to support an Constitutional amendment defining marriage as between a man and woman.

Some thoughts:
  • We can't even pass a Constitutional amendment stating women and men are equal. Do we need to waste our amendments on something like this?

  • Does the federal government really need to define marriage? Shouldn't we be worried about our ever-escalating debt or global warming or world peace or something like that? In fact, I think the states are the ones who get to define marriage, as they should.

  • Who does it hurt if two people who love each other decide they want to spend the rest of their lives together? Marriage is hurt more by divorce than by allowing gay people to marry.
I just don't understand why our elected officials are worrying about something as ridiculous as this. Just look in our country - we have poorly funded schools, hungry people, homeless people, out of work people and we're worried about gay people getting married?!? (Don't get me started on what we're doing outside of this country.)

It's just a ploy to get undersexed, Bible-beating redneck hillbillies to come to the polls and push an agenda of hatred and prejudice on everyone. Heaven forbid other people are happy.

I was really embarrassed when Ohio passed this amendment. If the country does, I'm moving to Canada. If they'll take me.

Other Signs That the World is Coming to An End

#1 - Apparently Hell, Michigan (a town of 72 people) is taking tomorrow very seriously - they're having a celebration for 06-06-06.

The best quote ever was from mayor Jason LeTeff:

Now, here I am living in Hell, taking my kids to church and trying to teach them the right things and the town where we live is having a 6-6-6 party.

If I were in charge, I would design a handbasket-shaped apparatus that brings people to town - just so people could say they went to Hell in a handbasket! (What is a handbasket anyway? A picnic basket, a purse? I'm confused!)

#2 - Scientology is getting involved with NASCAR. Do I really need to say anything else?

#3 - Anna Nicole Smith is pregnant. Ick! Did we need more of her? I watched her reality show a couple of times (a train-wreck!). I felt so sorry for the kid she already had! His mom was an idiot!
