I Have Two New Goals

Granted - these goals aren't going to be creating world peace or winning a Nobel prize or anything. But, they're simple and easily attainable. Yes, I'm a lazy butt, but is that so wrong? It's just as important to have smallish goals. Here are mine:

  • Be able to do 10 man-style push-ups -- I 'm not sure why they're called man-style push-ups. Actually, it sounds a bit sexist. Maybe I should call them not-knee push-ups.

It's funny, I went to BodyPump last night and we did some of the older moves we used when we just started out with the program. The difference in what my body can do is amazing. I remember the first time I took the class, I struggled with 5 lb weights for my tri-ceps. I'm up to 7 and I do every exercise in all three sets. My lunges are way better - I can now do most of them (at first, it was about half) and my legs feel much stronger. I can even do a ton of push-ups - all the way up and all the way down - on my knees.

So now I want to be able to do 10 not-knee push-ups without sticking my butt way up in the air like it's a separate planet. I'll keep you posted - I want to do this by the end of August.
  • Stop sweating the little stuff -- I had this epiphany when recently. I don't want to be that person who obsesses over whether a word should be capitalized. (Except when it's obviously supposed to be capitalized, of course.) I also don't want to spend hours on things that can be finished in five minutes. There are a lot of people who think the more time you spend on something, the better off you are. My new mantra is efficiency, not obsessing over details.

Gotta busy weekend ahead of me -- Harry Potter movie tomorrow night, 6 or 7 hours of rehearsal split over two days. And next week I'm on vacation! I completely forgot about it until I asked our admin when my next scheduled vacation was and she said it was next week. Go me! Not that I can leave the kittens at this point or actually go anywhere, but it'll be nice to sleep in.

...and now my pecs hurt from doing 10 "man-style" push-ups yesterday. They wanted me to write and say thanks ("in a sarcastic way" ) for the inspiration.

Much love from Me and My Pecs~ T
