Scary Cartoons, Pudding Ice Cream & Bloodsuckers - Oh My!

I had a fun, busy weekend - party at a friend's house, Ohio State Fair, etc. - I'll write more about those activities when I have more time. For now, I want to talk about Sunday night.

After going to the fair on the hottest day of the year, Simon and I were only capable of doing activities that involved collapsing in a heap and not moving. We decided to rent a movie. We settled on Coraline after he nixed my suggestions of The Uninvited (a hair lady with dreads and big earring holes told me it was really good), Obsessed (starring Beyonce) and Knowing (a movie my parents described as worst movie ever.)

I'm glad we picked Coraline though - it was adorable. I really liked the book - it
was a young adult novel written by Neil Gaiman. Even though the movie is animated, it's definitely not for young children or overly imaginative children/adults because it's a tad frightening. I knew what was going to happen and I was a little spooked! (It was definitely scarier than The Unborn, which we watched on Thursday night!)

I would really like the star sweater Coraline wears in the movie (yes, I know it's a drawing, but it's a cute sweater!) I can actually get it here. Sadly, it involves knitting and since I can't even sew buttons on my clothes, I won't be sewing elaborate sweaters anytime soon.

Pudding Ice Cream? Hell Yeah!

About 3/4 of the way through the movie, we decided we needed ice cream so we headed to Cold Stone Creamery. Simon got the ever-delicious Birthday Cake Remix. That's my absolute favorite concoction, but considering I need Spanx for most of my pants right now, I wasn't about to get it. My intention was to get the sinless sweet cream ice cream with fruit. Then I tasted the Jello Chocolate Pudding ice cream. It was the most delicious ice cream I've ever eaten. I got it with graham cracker pieces so it tasted like chocolate pie. Definitely not sinless, but oh so delicious!

Bloodsuckers Make Sunday Night Fabulous!

After inhaling our ice cream, it was time for True Blood. It's seriously the best show on TV. If you don't get HBO, rent the DVDs! I'm a geek - I got HBO solely so I could watch True Blood. But then, I've been reading the Sookie Stackhouse Southern Vampire novels (by Charlaine Harris) for years.

It's funny how people are just now into vampire books like it's a new craze! I've been reading vampire books for 6 or 7 years...Laurell Hamilton (although they've basically turned into porn), Charlaine Harris, Mary Janice Davidson. Everyone's into vampires these days because of Twilight. Personally, I think the Twilight series is one of the lamest out there. (Don't beat me up!) It's just like a Sweet Valley High novel with vampires. No real action. (OK ...so maybe Laurell Hamilton has colored my opinion..tee hee!)
